Sleep training for babies can be a minefield of information and overwhelm. Are you wondering if baby sleep training actually works? Each week we feature a mama & baby who, after sleep training with the Baby Sleep Trainer are thriving with more sleep and less stress! Meghan Johnson, mother to Iris, sleep trained with me when baby was 9 months old. Here is their story…..

I finally decided to bite the bullet and sleep train because….

I had resorted to co-sleeping because Iris wanted to nurse All. Night. Long. Every time I unlatched her (even when she wasn’t eating) she would wake up.

My biggest worry about sleep training was….

Silly as it sounds, having Iris be mad at me and breaking our close bond.

Before sleep training my baby slept….

Only when with me and nursing or suckling. Even setting her in the crib was a big no no according to Iris.

After sleep training my baby sleeps….

Like a dream! Majority of nights she still sleeps 11+ hours a night, uninterrupted.

The actual sleep training itself was….

So much easier than I thought! I was so nervous and scared to start, but that quickly dissipated.

Did your attachment with your baby change after sleep training?

Not one bit! Now that she is older, we can still snuggle and sleep together on vacations and rough nights, which is rare, but special.

Do you think sleep training is healthy for baby, you, and your family?

Absolutely. When mom isn’t sleeping well (and baby), it affects everyone in the house! Mom is in a bad mood, baby is in a bad mood and things start to fall apart.

(Picture yourself telling a close girlfriend) Sleep training is….

The best money I ever spent to help myself and my baby.  It was so much easier than I thought it would be and I didn’t have to let my baby “cry it out” to make it work.

How many nights did it take for baby’s nighttime sleep to improve and how many nights did it take for baby’s naps to improve?

Honestly, the first night went better right off the bat.  Naps took a little bit longer, maybe a week or even less.

Would you recommend BST to a friend and if so, who and why?

Yes, yes, and yes! You think sleep training requires someone to be physically with you to help, but that is not the case. I was skeptical at first, but Natalie was there every step of the way.  Video chat, phone calls, emails, and text all provided wonderful support.
