Teaching your baby that it’s safe and healthy to fall asleep unassisted is a valuable life lesson. But it can be overwhelming to know where to start!
Welcome the the Baby Sleep Trainer success stories, where we share stories from the baby sleep frontline. This week we caught up with Lisa, who used the Baby Sleep Trainer method to help their daughter Natalie when she was 5.5 months old. Read their story here!
I finally decided to bite the bullet and sleep train because….
When I almost fell asleep driving. I realized I was very sleep deprived.
My biggest worry about sleep training was….
Hearing my baby cry and not being able to calm her.
Before sleep training my baby slept….
Not horribly, but I started to soothe her every time she woke in the middle of the night, which led to more waking.
After sleep training my baby sleeps….
Wonderfully! Falls instantly asleep for naps and sleeps from 6:30 pm to her one night feeding (between 1:30 am and 2:00 am) and back to sleep until 6:00 am. This fits my husband’s and I’s schedule perfectly!
The sleep training process itself was….
A lot easier than I thought.
Did your attachment with your baby change in a positive or a negative way after sleep training?
Positive!
Do you feel like sleep training was a healthy choice for baby, you, and your family?
Yes, I feel more rested during the day.
How would you respond to hearing, “Sleep training is selfish”?
I would explain that parents need a healthy amount of sleep too in order to take care of their baby!
How many nights did it take for baby’s nighttime sleep to improve and how many nights did it take for baby’s naps to improve?
1-2 nights for nighttime sleep and approx. 1-2 weeks for naps
Would you recommend BST to a friend and if so, who and why?
Of course I would! No matter your age, everyone needs sleep. It is vital to our health. When your baby sleeps well so does everyone in your household, making a happy and healthy family.
