I finally decided to bite the bullet and sleep train because….

My son wouldn’t nap in his crib and slept in my bed only at night, and nursed 5-6 times over night.

My biggest worry about sleep training was….

That my son was too stubborn to sleep train! We knew it worked because we sleep trained my older son, but baby 2 was so stubborn that I was so so worried that it wouldn’t work! But it did!

Before sleep training my baby slept….

With me! He refused to sleep if he wasn’t in a baby carrier or in bed with me.

After sleep training my baby sleeps….

Wonderfully! He takes 2 awesome naps in his crib and sleeps ALL NIGHT LONG!

The sleep training process itself was….

Brutal! He resisted it like crazy, but after persistence and consistency, he finally got it! Natalie was there every step of the way and helped me through the entire process. Had it not been for Natalie, we would have given up–but our one-to-one consultations helped us get through the program.

Did your attachment with your baby change in a positive or a negative way after sleep training?

In a positive way! Because he was such a colicky baby, he was attached to me all day and all night long, and I never got a break. As much as I loved him and loved that time, sometimes I needed a minute to pee. Since sleep training, I love having some time to myself while he is napping, but I can’t wait for him to wake up either because I miss him!

Do you feel like sleep training was a healthy choice for baby, you, and your family?

Absolutely! It strengthened my relationship with my husband, with my son and with my baby. We’re all a little more rested and happier now!

How would you respond to hearing, “Sleep training is selfish”?

It’s 100% false. It’s the most important thing you can do for your baby. You’re giving them the tools they need to be independent and realize that they can be alone. And that’s so essential in life. It’s not selfish, it’s essential!

How many nights did it take for baby’s nighttime sleep to improve and how many nights did it take for baby’s naps to improve?

Nighttime sleep was never the issue, and he got it the first night–he cried when we put him down for just a few minutes, and going cold turkey on nursing didn’t bother him. Naps were harder and it took him a good 6 weeks to be able to take longer, more restorative naps.

If your child is now older than 4 years old, did sleep training improve your child’s quality of life?

I’ll answer this for my older son and the answer is YES! He loves sleeping and even though he’s had a few hiccups, he’s happy, healthy and thriving because he gets the sleep he needs–and that’s all because of Natalie!

Would you recommend BST to a friend and if so, who and why?

YES, YES and YES! Natalie is magic and she can make any baby sleep! Before we sleep trained my younger one, we couldn’t take him in the car without him screaming. It was because he was tired, but didn’t know how to fall asleep on his own. Now that we’ve sleep trained him, we can take a quiet car ride, and the silence is golden! It’s crazy how sleep training effects all areas of their life, but it’s so true. The BST program has changed our lives twice–and the newborn program is the #1 baby gift anyone should get for new parents!
